Signia by Hilton Hotel Convention Center, and Ballroom
DEEP WELL WATERING

Location: Indiana
Partnerships: Indianapolis Downtown Development Authority, AECOM/Hunt Construction Management
Project Type: Deep Wells
Well Depth: 80-90 feet
Pumping Rates: 15,000 GPM
Contract Dewatering Services was selected to provide comprehensive groundwater control for the construction of the Signia by Hilton Hotel, Convention Center, and Ballroom in downtown Indianapolis. This half-acre site is formerly known as the Pan Am, built in 1984 to host the Pan American Games. It’s located immediately adjacent to the existing Indianapolis Convention Center, which presented challenges due to its confined footprint and proximity to critical city infrastructure.
Contract Dewatering Services (CDS) designed and installed a perimeter system of 19 deep wells, extending 80-90 feet below grade. The system initially pumped over 15,000 gallons of water per minute, rapidly lowering groundwater levels and achieving target dewatering elevations within just one week.
Through efficient system design and installation methods, the construction team began deep foundation excavation roughly 30 days early, helping keep this complex downtown Indianapolis project on schedule and moving forward.
